Horse Flu Epidemic in Australia

Perhaps horse dentistry is a “cosmetic” application but what about vaccinations for horses? A necessary evil or something you can bypass?

Australia’s East Coast is in the midst of a flu epidemic. The horse flu is native to Australia and New Zealand and the vaccine was said to be effective until the recent outbreak. All horses in NSW have been quarantined and companies transporting products between farms have been asked to take special precautions. The racing industry is on hold as are any riding establishments such as those Equitours sells. This is the case even if your horse has been vaccinated.

We do not have a ride in Australia at this time but one we are looking into, has been temporarily closed due to the outbreak. In this situation it seems vaccinations are a small price to pay for peace of mind.
