“Originally I was certain of Amy’s mistreatment and calculated cruelty to her horse at the Rolex. Now, the more I read about the actual circumstances, and think about the emotions and excitement during the situation, I think perhaps my first accusations were incorrect. I now believe the cruelty was unintentional and I think Amy Tryon is genuinely remorseful.In the heat of the competition I am not sure I would be able to tell the difference between a slight miss-step and a fatal injury. Maybe this is where the distinction lies though- I am not an international competitor…….Perhaps if the miss- step was closer to the beginning of the cross country course Amy Tryon would have picked up the injury sooner and pulled out of the competition. I would like to believe so.”
