Spyder’s scar
A wonderful website which provides information and all natural products from Australia is Robert McDowell’s Herbal Treatment. I have found this very interesting and have used recommendations from Robert to help prevent a massive scar on my horse’s wound when she ran through a post. It worked! She now has two small scar lines and a very faint “pull” in the skin. People never even notice it- even with her summer coat.

I certainly believe in conventional drugs as well but I am a strong believer in trying the natural remedies first. What do you have to lose?

Which kind herb you used?
Why do not suture the wound?
I am just curious.
By the way what made it hurt like tis?

Thanks for your interest Trista. While the scar was open I was cleaning it with a warm water and betadine solution and spraying with what my vet calls “secret red stuff”. It is his self made combination of scarlet oil, iodine, and 3 other secret ingredients which help the healing and cleaning process.
Once the wound was closed and dry I applied comfrey (herb) cream to it every day for about 6 months. This encourages cell growth and reduces scaring. Amazing!
Not sure how Spyder did this to herself. It did not apear to be a wire cut and there was a lot of force behind it so we are guessing she ran into an upright fence post. Luckily my husband went to feed late at night instead of the usual time and found her, pretty much just after it had happened. If we feed early afternoon then we would not have gone back out to the pasture until the next morning!
The reason for not using stitches is so that the wound stays clean and does not trap any infection. It was winter and cold when it happened so the flies were not an issue. She had only just been halter broken so it was a lesson in vetting, trailering and patience all in one hit. She is very calm to handle these days because of it!
Thanks for your comment.

Thanks for your reply, it made me clear.
One of my seniors is a vet, he told me it was not polite to ask another vet questions about how to cure the wound. But I am just curious, and love horse.
So thanks again.
By the way the herb is so great.
Best wishes to Spyder.
