Natural Remedies
I was just reading in the Horse Journal about the effectiveness (or lack of effectiveness) of feeding vinegar to horses. My fit and spirited grandmother used to swallow a shot of apple cider vinegar each day and swore by it. That and garlic (oh and a glass of scotch each day) are the cure all in her books and considering she will be turning 89 this year and still travels, exercises and is mentally very sharp, I tend to think she may be onto something.
I remember my friend always making a concoction of garlic, apple cider vinegar, salt, bran and sunflower oil to add to her mare’s oats each day. I haven’t gone this far with my horses diet but I do feed my dogs the occasional dose of garlic and oil. Do these natural remedies have any positive effects? This MSNBC article thinks not.
