It’s not just Bayard’s opinion

“Our Nagaur Fair Ride (and visits to places before and after) was an extraordinary experience that will leave us forever connected to India. That is what I like best about having taken this trip. India’s culture and lifestyle, so different from ours in the U.S., left my husband and I with an expanded perspective. It’s easy to become myopic. The planet is a global village. We want to meet the neighbors. A country with over a billion people is a very significant part of the village. We had fun riding. The horses were well cared for and our guide was capable and responsive. We saw villagers, women in their colored saris rippling like petals across the desert, children in their outdoor schools reciting the English alphabet for us, and much more. The Nagaur Camel Fair was a highlight. We were the only tourists (except for another small British riding group), so we saw the neighbors participating in an event that wasn’t built for outsiders. It was a privilege.

We’d been home for about three weeks when I received a gift in the mail from a friend who had been to India herself. It was a large book of photographs taken by an Indian man who had lived in Rajasthan. The moment I opened the book, I was flooded with feelings of affection and connection. India is mysterious, intriguing, and spiritual. It is a very important part of our world. Seeing India and riding horses? Extraordinary, for sure.”
