Wimpy travellers
I have to agree with Bayard Fox on this one. I feel like I am a reasonably well traveled 27 year old. Although I haven’t been to the exotic locations such as Kenya or India, like the Fox family, I have done my share of Europe, UK, Argentina, South Pacific Islands, and the USA before I relocated here from Australia.
Along my travels it was rare to see groups of Americans. Working at a five star hotel outside Sydney a few years ago exposed me to the tourism/travel industry. It was certainly true that the conference/business market coming from the USA was strong but the leisure market was extremely weak. Perhaps it is due to the reduced number of vacation days Americans have, compared to the rest of the world…… Or is that just an excuse for a society not willing to get in touch with different cultures…….. Perhaps Americans are just wimpy travelers…..
