Reach Out

Speaking of Anna Twinney- There will be a Reach Out to Horses training clinic at Bitterroot Ranch this summer, hosted by Anna. atwinney.jpg

I participated in the clinic a couple years ago while working at the ranch and found it fascinating and fun. I learnt an incredible amount from both Anna and the Bitterroot horses we worked with.

Most horse lovers I have met want to do what is best for the horse and these clinics are a perfect way to achieve this. You are able to combine a fun horseback riding vacation with an informative and educational focus.

    Regarding your question about foreign travel for Americans, for me its a case of lack of vacation time, schedule conflicts, and price;
    not fear.
As a single traveler, registered nurse, full-time employment and inability to have more than one weekend per quarter off per year; its almost impossible to book an Equitours vacation.
In the past, when I was part of a “couple”, I enjoyed 3 trips through Equitours. My schedule was less restricted and I shared accomadations.
Now just the ’single supplement” can boost the cost of the trip over the top.
Also, it is cheaper for 2 to live together then one and my personal cost of living has doubled.
I would love to go on another riding vacation, but please understand, when a trip basically costs an average of about $500./day (with the airfare), spending $2000. -$4,000. for a 7-8 vacation can be prohibitive.

    Trisha,
I understand your dilemma. I was brought up in a work force in Australia where 4 weeks vacation per year is the norm! Finding the time to sneak away is certainly a challenge. Understandably a single income also makes it difficult to get away. I am married and I have 3 jobs just to make ends meet (and support my horse habit of course)!

Equitours does have a single supplement on a lot of rides but on others, if you are willing to buddy up with someone (perhaps not even booked through Equitours) while still arriving on your own, we are happy to have you pay the twin rate and share a room. We have a lot of clients do this as they don’t have friends or family who ride.

We do have a selection of rides that are shorter than a week and therefore more accessable for you and others on a tight schedule. These are also cheaper. Rides like Estancia Los Potreros and the Patagonia Ride have a three night minimum stay at around $330 per night. Ireland is another destination which can allow for shorter stays. If you contact us at the office (800 545 0019) with a price range and some dates we can certainly try to work out a wonderful riding trek for you.

Hope to hear from you and thanks for your comment.

    Thanks so much for responding!
Your suggestion is certainly something I will consider.
Could you arrange something like Mon. or Tues. arrival staying through one weekend and Wed.or Thurs. (of the following week) departure?
I’d barely get over my jet lag if I could only go for 3-4 nights!

Thanks again for your kind reply…..
