Horseback Riding in Uruguay
RIDE WITH BAYARD AND RICHARD IN URUGUAY — March 18-25, 2006
Horseback Riding in Uruguay: I was smitten with the first Gauchos and Estancias ride last year when I took a group to investigate this new destination. I am looking forward to returning in March, this time with my son, Richard, and some other clients. Last springs group was enchanted with the colorful gauchos and the magnificent estancias. I feel this trip has tremendous promise due to the willing horses, the welcoming ambiance, the outstanding accommodations, the reasonable cost of $1,495- $1,750 (depending on the group size) and the lovely scenery of this tranquil, secure country. Uruguay compares favorably to Europe as a horseback riding destination.
There are still five places available with my group in March and another departure is scheduled April 15-22.
AND WHILE YOU’RE THERE… I expect to spend a few days after the ride canoeing down a secluded Uruguayan river and fly fishing for dorado. There are two or three spaces still available for anyone who enjoys canoeing and fly fishing as well as riding.
Another possible extension is the Estancia Los Potreros in Argentina which is just a short flight from Montevideo. We began sending clients there after I checked it out last spring and the reviews have been unanimously excellent, including mine. In addition to the fine horses and hospitality, Los Potreros gives another glimpse into the fascinating gaucho culture.
