Three Park Spectacular
Judging from the e-mails I received about the discount for the Three Park Spectacular in October, I should have explained more about the ride. It is a camping trip; all nights spent in tents and sleeping bags.
I never sugar-coat the description, because camping is not for everyone. It is a hands-on experience, and you must be prepared to put up your own tent, groom and saddle your own horse, and schlep your own luggage. You can count on getting dirty. But camping allows you to get into remote country, listen to the coyotes at night, and watch the sunrise wash the cliffs in golden light.
If you would like to see the southwest, but are “camping skeptical” then inquire about the Two Inn Trail which is operated by the same outfitter but you will return to the comfort of a lodge or inn for the night. The September ride is full for this year, but you can get on the list for 2006.

This kind of ride is the kind I like best! Like Ellen says, its not for those who like their creature comforts, but those of us who like to travel light and who look forward to escaping totally from the routines of ‘normal’ life the pleasure is immense. You’re never far from your trusty horse the whole time and as long as you don’t mind smelling a little like one (and your fellow riders don’t mind it either!) you have plenty of time to build a real bond!
